DIFFA has granted more than $55 million to to hundreds of organizations across the country providing treatment, assistance, and access to healthcare for a diverse group of people impacted by HIV/AIDS, food & housing insecurities, and mental health issues.

In 2022, DIFFA made grants to eleven New York City charities. Among those, DIFFA funded 130,000 pantry bag meals and food vouchers through GMHC, ten Women’s Empowerment Art Therapy workshops through Visual AIDS for the Arts, and supported Callen-Lorde’s Health Outreach to Teens (HOTT) program, which targets underserved and disenfranchised LGBTQ homeless and street-involved youth ages 13-24 across New York City. Other organizations and project funded include: Ali Forney Center’s mental health services to LGBTQ youth, Bridging Access to Care’s wellness programs for New Yorkers at risk or living with HIV/AIDS, God’s Love We Deliver’s medically-tailored meals, Housing Work’s preventative education programs in East New York, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s emotional health and wellness activities for persons living with HIV/AIDS, SAGE’s programs for older adults living with or at-risk of HIV/AIDS, and VOCAL-NY’s advocation for accessible and safe housing for New Yorker’s living with HIV/AIDS.

In New York, DIFFA grants once annually through the New York Community Trust. The Trust vets the organizations the foundation funds and makes recommendations. If you are interested in applying in 2023 and already work with the Trust, please let them know you would like to be considered for a DIFFA grant. If you do not already work with the Trust, please email your interest to Steven Williams (swilliams@diffa.org). He will evaluate your organization with the team at the Trust to make sure you fit within our guidelines. If you are, the Trust will issue an RFP in the fall.
