DIFFA Executive Director Highlights the Impact of Design on Philanthropy During NYCxDesign

May 23, 2016—On May 13, DIFFA Executive Director Johanna Osburn took the stage at designjunction +Dwell on Design with Sha Hwang of Nava for a lively panel discussion on Making a Difference Though Design. This talk was part of a new collaborative show hosted by Dwell on Design and designjunction which featured international design brands and nearly 20 interactive panel discussions as part of NYCxDesign, New York’s official city-wide celebration of design.

During the conversation, moderated by Luke Hopping, Johanna discussed DIFFA’s mission, vision and history in the organization’s 30 plus year fight to end HIV/AIDS. Additionally, she highlighted innovative ways to engage designers in leveraging their talents and resources to support a cause and how design can be used to generate awareness, solve community problems and break down barriers.

“Through our partnerships with designers, DIFFA is able to connect them to opportunities to use their talents to support our work and positively impact the cause. So many of our partners have personal connections to HIV/AIDS, which fuels their generosity to donate their time and resources toward our efforts,” Johanna said. “With their help, we are able to create impactful, visually appealing campaigns and events to support our mission and fund organizations accross the country.”
